This talk is about why being a Generalists is actually the anecdote for remaining relevant in an A.I. world. Being able to adapt to change, solve complex problems or generate original ideas requires a breadth of knowledge and a variety of skills that is typical of Generalists. However, in an industrialised society, we have over-valued and over emphasised the need for specialisation which becomes more risky the more technology advances.

After taking over YouTube for South Africa, I was astonished to discover who where the real influencers on the platform. We launched a campaign with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to drive people to dedicate their time for good. We got the biggest celebrities in the world to make pleas to their online audiences, however it was a different kind of celebrity that made all the difference.

My general view is that A.I. will positively impact recruitment by providing more insightful insights into candidates than ever before. The irony is that technology is perfectly geared towards putting the "human" back into human resources.
